A decision to donate twenty-five pence for every order received by Blunham based
Abbey Corrugated during a single month to the Sue Ryder Care Charity has raised £3,000.
The money will be used to buy specialised beds for the Stagenhoe Park Care Centre, near
Hitchen in Hertfordshire, which provides long term and respite care for people with severe neurological conditions
"To purchase the special equipment to meet our resident’s needs to the standard we would wish creates cost pressures
that the Charity cannot always sustain," said Georgina Hewitt, fundraising manager for the care centre.
"We are so grateful to everyone at Abbey Corrugated for raising £3,000 which is a fantastic amount of money
to help us achieve our goal of £40,000 to replace the bed stock in the care centre."
The new beds, each costing £1,140, are capable of selective positioning to suit the individual
occupant and are fitted with electronic hi-lo height adjustments to reduce the risk to carers from strain injuries.
"We were delighted to be able to donate such an amount", said Abbey's managing director Mark Shaw. "And everyone
at Blunham fully supported the idea."
